Fashion…Coterie & Fall 2013

HD Office

{Hunter Dixon offices}

I was only in New York for two days but it felt like a week.

It’s amazing how you you can pack so much into such a short period.

I went in the city for market and saw all the new collections for Fall 2013, sat in on a photo shoot and and helped prepare and price all the samples for the show.

The production manager of the line I work with brought cupcakes to the show from a place called Burgers & Cupcakes in Hell’s Kitchen.  It’s funny watching models walk around all day while I eat a strawberry flavored cupcake.

But, my god, they’re delicious.

New York…Oh, to be Inspired

Intermezzo Jan- 2

{Intermezzo- Pier 92}

This trip was exactly what I needed and I didn’t even realize it.

I only had five days after Paris before heading off to NY and, honestly, I really wasn’t looking forward to it.  Thank God I didn’t back out.

{Hunter Dixon~ Summer 2013}

I have been working with some friends of mine on their clothing line, Hunter Dixon, and flew up for the show.  The collection was gorgeous, very classic HD- feminine & flirty, but with an added edge.  Exposed zippers, pinky gold boucle and flouncy tennis dresses made me ready for warmer temps.

And Hunter is going to be on the NBC show Design Star this coming season so I’m looking forward to lots of exciting things coming their way.

Sometimes being in that environment, around so many creative and inspired people, around so many gorgeous prints and designs, is what I need to refuel my own imagination.  After the holidays I was feeling less than inspired, to say the least.  My desire to design and create  and has been refreshed; I feel ready for anything again.

Now to plan my next trip.  Tuscon.  Gem Show, here I come…

Pantone Please…

A couple months ago when I was in New York I found these Pantone folding chairs and fell in love.  Having a mother that works in interior design and myself working in fashion, I have always loved working with pantone colors.

So imagine my astonishment after dinner last night, when The Boyfriend surprised me with a trip to the Apple Store (not one of my favorite places), and I found this…

Neon pink Pantone iPhone case!

Who knew the Apple Store held such treasure?  So after a 20 minute conversation where I was trying to explain to The Boyfriend what a Pantone color is, he thought this would make our future Apple Store trips more of a pleasure and less like pulling teeth.

Incorrect.

Now about these chairs, I’m thinking they would be an amazing replacement to the dining room chairs we currently have.  And they’re only $75, I found them online.

Destination…New York

My trip has come and gone and while I do miss the city when I leave, I’m always super happy to see The Boyfriend’s smiling (not always) face at the airport when I get home.

I went to a Plenty by Tracy Reese Fall 2012 collection preview party at her boutique one night.  Oh and apparently it was National Margarita Day so naturally we had to partake in that.  I am from Texas.

I was curious how hard it was going to be to find a place serving ‘ritas in the middle of the meatpacking district in New York but wondering out of the boutique onto Gansevoort Street I almost tripped over a chalkboard sign advertising half price margaritas.

Alcohol knows no regional boundaries.  Good margaritas can be found anywhere…

Destination…New York

I have been up here a couple days and love the post Fashion Week craziness. I have had an amazing time getting to see all the new Spring 2012 collections and speaking to designers about their inspirations.

I love walking the city and normally go to this great little italian place around the corner but this time we decided to branch out.  Across the street we found an amazing french restaurant…pomme frites fried in duck fat with truffles, fromage plates and peaches sautéed with marscapone and mint.  Delicious…
