I Read in Valentino…

I was perusing my favorite sites this morning, i.e. Refinery29, and one of their articles was matching outfits to popular romantic reads.

And what originally caught my attention was a gingham dress from Topshop for a characher in Jeffrey Eugenides’ The Marriage Plot, but then I came across this…

Red Valentino Maxi{mytheresa.com}

This printed Valentino chiffon maxi was from Winter’s Tale, which is not a book or movie I would like to see, but apparently is someone I want to dress like.

Pair with some more Valentino and my book character is complete.

I need to be a book character.

Pumped up Kicks…

I woke up this morning, fired up my laptop to work and was informed by Neimans, via Facebook, they think I need these sneakers.

Yes, I agree with them.  I do need those sneakers.

Actually, I don’t need those sneakers, I want those sneakers.  I’ve mentioned before, The Boyfriend has been attempting to teach me the difference between the whole need/want scenario for about five years now. I wish him good luck with that.  It’s been an ongoing work in progress.

It seems kind of funny someone at Neimans is suggesting to Facebookers they need a $800 pair of sneakers.  I would imagine that’s a rather small niche market.

But like I said, I really need these tennies.

Plaid Please…

This fall, I’m looking to add a little plaid into my wardrobe.

Valentino Plaid

{Valentino dress}

I recently dyed my hair platinum and found that my gorgeous orange plaid princess coat from last year makes me look like ‘pumpkin Barbie’.  So I’ve been searching for a new shade of plaid.  I am finding that changing my hair color also means changing my wardrobe and all of my makeup.

Who knew.

  But as much as I love Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent (and I really love Valentino) my wallet informed me it’s not a possibility.  But I did find a more affordable Alice + Olivia version for under $200 I’m ordering.

And while I would love to wear it with my gorgeous cashmere black over the knee socks I adore, that might be a little too ‘Clueless Barbie.’ Maybe even toeing the line of ‘lady of the evening Barbie.’

So…I’ll stick with tights and pumps or flat boots.

While in Paris I tried to convince The Boyfriend to go to a Haute Couture exhibit with me.  We didn’t end up going but we did manage to recently make our way to the official UFO Museum in Roswell on our way to Santa Fe.  Trust me, I don’t miss the irony in that one.

So I’m back to refreshing my french and saving my euros.  Haute Couture Museum in Paris, here I come…

Valentino, Bows & Sparkles…

I have fallen in love with new things from Valentino.  Again…

While dutifully Christmas shopping (for others I might add), I happened to come across a couple things I desperately want to add to my wish list. Glitter?  Bows?  Platforms?  I really couldn’t ask for more in a shoe.

But then I came across this…

I have a thing for pale pink soft leather.  And anything Valentino.

All found at Saks.

Buy The Shoes…

I have started thinking about the flat riding boots I need for fall.  Need or want…now that’s just semantics.

{Valentino, www.neimanmarcus.com}

Riding boot and a bow?  Now we’re talking.  Oh, and it’s by Valentino?  Say no more.

Here’s how to justify…

Well, apparently life is short.  I must go buy some shoes.

Fashionable Cocktails…

The Pattern Bar ~ Downtown Los Angeles

I wouldn’t necessarily say this is one of my favorite places to get drinks in LA but they name their cocktails after fashion greats (a Valentino anyone?) and they cater to the market crowds.

Unfortunately the Valentino is made with pisco and egg whites so I opted for a glass of rosé instead.
