Champagne, Lace & Rhinestones…

The Boyfriend and I aren’t big NYE plans people.  I guess we aren’t big ‘planners’ in general but this year, we have a lot of celebrate so we decided to go out on the town.

After a discussion with my stylish friend in Los Angeles, I was informed I needed to wear something “sparkly.”  Apparently I am a little rusty when it comes to all things NYE.

So I went through the archives and found one of my favorite accessories, my silk and rhinestone, beaded collar.  Very NYE-ie.   Paired with a lace slip and pumps, I was ready to celebrate.

Off we headed to a small BYOB italian place around the corner with some wine we bottled in Napa.

Oh, and some champagne.  It was a celebration after all.

Traveling in Style…

plane dress

{cardigan, Tracy Reese; vintage dress; boots, J Crew}

Lately, I’ve found myself in and out of airports and noticed that not too many people dress up to travel anymore.

Once I saw a woman in sweats (click here for Karl Lagerfeld’s view of sweats- love him) and those sponge curlers.  We were surprised she got through security, but then again I guess there’s no metal.

Honestly, who are you going to see thats so important to curl your hair but the hundreds of people you come across in the meantime see your curlers?  I don’t get it.

Regardless, this made me rethink the way I dress to travel.  I’m thinking similar to what I wear for happy hour drinks with friends; dressy casual.  And, as always, I love to mix prints; stripes & animal prints- my current fave.

Unfortunately more often than not, I book my tickets on the late side so there’s always a strong possibility I will get stuck in a middle seat.  Whereas I used to bring my laptop, iPad, magazines and a book, I’ve now settled just for a book.  I’m streamlining.

Stress-free traveling?  It doesn’t exist.  But I can at least take out my curlers…

Christmastime…Neiman’s & Target

Neiman’s at Christmastime is one of my favorite places.  Of all time.

I love their downtown Dallas location; they put up their huge Christmas tree in the make up department and decorate the whole store.  I just want to live there.

But now, Neimans will be walking distance at Target this holiday season. NM recruited 24 American designers to create gifts for the discounter between $8 and $500.

Band of Outsiders, Alice+Olivia, Lela Rose, Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, Tracy Reese…

I am so excited!

Must Have…Tracy Reese & Clos du Bois Picnic Basket

If I owned a store (retail scares me) I would fill it with finds like this…

The gorgeous picnic basket holds two bottles of Clos du Bois (which in fact I am currently drinking), two wine glasses, two matching napkins (the interior is lined in a print from her collection), a corkscrew and a wine stopper.

It doesn’t seem as if there is much room to fit food.  I am not quite sure what The Boyfriend will think of that on our picnic.

I guess we will just be drunk and skinny…

Weddings Weekends…

I have been dying to wear this lace maxi for over a year now and finally had the perfect opportunity this weekend at one of my favorite friend’s wedding.

It’s a chevron woven lace with lace embroidered flowers appliquéd over.  Each flower is trimmed in grosgrain ribbon and accented with floral bead work inside.

It’s an intense dress…

Destination…New York

My trip has come and gone and while I do miss the city when I leave, I’m always super happy to see The Boyfriend’s smiling (not always) face at the airport when I get home.

I went to a Plenty by Tracy Reese Fall 2012 collection preview party at her boutique one night.  Oh and apparently it was National Margarita Day so naturally we had to partake in that.  I am from Texas.

I was curious how hard it was going to be to find a place serving ‘ritas in the middle of the meatpacking district in New York but wondering out of the boutique onto Gansevoort Street I almost tripped over a chalkboard sign advertising half price margaritas.

Alcohol knows no regional boundaries.  Good margaritas can be found anywhere…
