Traveling in Style…

plane dress

{cardigan, Tracy Reese; vintage dress; boots, J Crew}

Lately, I’ve found myself in and out of airports and noticed that not too many people dress up to travel anymore.

Once I saw a woman in sweats (click here for Karl Lagerfeld’s view of sweats- love him) and those sponge curlers.  We were surprised she got through security, but then again I guess there’s no metal.

Honestly, who are you going to see thats so important to curl your hair but the hundreds of people you come across in the meantime see your curlers?  I don’t get it.

Regardless, this made me rethink the way I dress to travel.  I’m thinking similar to what I wear for happy hour drinks with friends; dressy casual.  And, as always, I love to mix prints; stripes & animal prints- my current fave.

Unfortunately more often than not, I book my tickets on the late side so there’s always a strong possibility I will get stuck in a middle seat.  Whereas I used to bring my laptop, iPad, magazines and a book, I’ve now settled just for a book.  I’m streamlining.

Stress-free traveling?  It doesn’t exist.  But I can at least take out my curlers…

2013- J Crew Day Planner

{2013 planner, J Crew}

I have decided to test a new route this new year.

Normally I bog myself down with resolutions that I rarely keep, promises to do better and then try to ignore the slight guilt I feel once I finally succumb to temptation.  I believe last year I told The Boyfriend I was cutting french fries, chips and pizza out of my diet.  While that might have been a slightly aggressive line of thinking, this year I’m going to strive to be a little more general.

Astrology Chart

Although a little advice couldn’t hurt.

For Christmas, my best friend in LA was given a chart reading by a woman who works over Skype.  After hearing how eerily on point she was for my friend and her sister, I’m intrigued.  So when I get back from NY next week, I’m going to give her a call.   On the phone.  Skype to me is like Gossip Girl is to The Boyfriend.  He just doesn’t get it.

If she says something I don’t like, I can always pretend I don’t hear her.  My mom will tell you I’m extremely good at that.  Hopefully this can point me in a direction for the year.

So here’s to me being general.  For this year, more traveling and less wine on Tuesdays.  2013, here I come…

And I’m updating my travel diary everyday.  Enjoy.

Must Have…Seersucker

My mom sent me a link to J Crew’s new swim collection.

I am normally not a terribly big fan of seersucker but I thought this was absolutely adorable.  But…

…then I saw it in pink.  I love the classic fabric mixed with the classic silhouette, I think swim suits are too revealing these days.

Oh, and the ruffles.  Sold…
