Date Night…50’s Style

I love that black winged eyeliner is big for fall.  This time of year, when the weather starts to cool, I love getting dressed up.  So since The Boyfriend and I had to work all weekend, we decided to have a low key date night.

Time to dress up.

{winged liquid eyeliner & pale pink gloss}

{Hunter Dixon Peppy Coat, vintage dress}

It’s finally cool enough for opaque tights and tall heels, one of my favorite if not absolute favorite looks for the fall season.  So I went with a girlie military coat and a little vintage dress (little because it was accidentally thrown into the laundry pile…).  And I was ready for a date.

Honestly, the coat is my most treasured piece of clothing in my closet.  Well, that and my grandmothers velvet Pucci maxi skirt from the 60’s.  That I’m saving for holiday parties.

Bourbon, bitters and passion fruit purée.  Yum…

Forget work.

Oh travel…

My love of traveling is only slighted by my distaste for packing.  And unpacking.

This weekend we are headed off to Santa Fe for the annual Wine & Chile Fest.  To begin with, I’m a terrible packer, but when going somewhere where it’s almost 80 degrees during the day and in the lower 40s at night, I panic.

Panic packing does not make for good clothing choices…

Although this time I have been saved by my favorite label, Hunter Dixon.  I have been dying to wear this adorable little textured wool and ponti dress but the weather in Texas has been working against me.  Winter white mixed with chocolate brown is one of my favorite fall combos so Santa Fe’s cooler nights will be perfect.

Except, white and wine…not usually a good combo for me.

Amourouse…Bandeaus Sets

{Amourouse Etsy Shop}

I have a group of girls that I’m friends with and it’s funny because we always seem to gravitate towards the same things.  Well, that might be just limited to fashion because, otherwise, we are all extremely different.

One of the girls sent me an email saying that I would absolutely love this shop on Etsy called Amourouse but once I checked it out, I found had already saved several of her pieces to my wish list.  Great minds think alike…

I don’t want the entire set, as it’s cotton and not a bathing suit so I’m not quite sure what to do with it, but I have a gorgeous Hunter Dixon maxi skirt that would pair back well with a bandeau.

I always come out here with the idea that this time it will be different.  Vegas will not eat me alive. But it always does…

After working market all day, my friend in from LA and I decided it was finally time to unleash ourselves onto the strip, so we went to The Chandelier bar at the Cosmopolitan.

Ah-mazing.  The entire bar is in a huge chandelier, so we sat and drank prosecco and tried to figure out where to eat.

I did learn one valuable lesson last night.  Last minute dinner reservations do not exist here, so plan ahead if you like to eat.  After being told by four different hostesses they were “fully committed for the evening”  we ended up eating at the bar of french restaurant after an hour wait.

Not ideal but the wine list was to die for.  There goes that paycheck…

Spring Trend…Aztec Prints

Last fall when Spring 2012 debuted at markets, I was a little hesitant when I first encountered the trend highlighting aztec prints.  Interestingly enough, it grew to be one of my favorites.  Especially after encountering this little gem…

I love how the sophisticated shift silhouette is offset by the vibrant print.
Definitely statement worthy.
