tis the season…

saints headband

From here on out my Saturdays are devoted to college football and Sundays are reserved for Saints games.

My go-to Sunday accessory, a Deepa Gurnani headband in the classic black and gold combo.

valentine’s day essentials…

valentines

All I really want for Valentine’s is someone to rub my shoulders and a bottle of wine.

But here are some other gorgeous little necessities for the big day.

Normally, The Boyfriend and I are rather anti- NYE & Valentine’s Day.  A couple of my least favorite things usually happen on these holidays~ crowds, waiting and prix-fixe menus, just to name a couple.  Especially prix-fixe menus.

Waaay to picky for that nonsense.

But this year, I had a change of heart; cocktails and dinner can’t be too bad.  Although I haven’t tried to make reservations yet, so maybe I’m being a little optimistic.

But my hair will look good while we wait; I’m thinking messy bun.

After an hour or so of cocktails and waiting for a table, “messy” will be inevitable.  I’d rather start with “artfully messy” than end with “cocktail messy.”

New Faves…Colette Malouf

Hair accessories are my ultimate guilty pleasure.

I say that, but then think back to the money spent on mascaras, vintage caplets, Louboutins, mid century cocktail glasses (honestly the list is endless…), that I realize this is only one of my many guilty pleasures.  Oh, and wine.  Love wine.

So after undergoing a hair coloring overhaul recently, I decided it was time to stock up.  I’ve been a fan of Colette Malouf since, well forever, and had ordered a couple pies from their Fall 13 Collection.

Now, about that wine…

Markets & Hair Accessories…

FIG March 13

{March FIG Market~Dallas}

Oh markets, we share a love/hate relationship.  The stress, the work involved, not to mention the occasional catastrophe (this particular catastrophe was of the shipping variety) but the advantages make it all worthwhile.

I relish seeing old friends, love the opportunity to make new ones and adore the lines I work with.

Not to mention shopping for personals…

I love accessories (obv, I’m a jewelry designer) and have always had an obsession with the gorgeous hair accessory line Colette Malouf, whose booth was next to mine.  Fate?  Yes, I believe so.

So on Saturdays, as the show starts to slow down and buyers head back home I get in a little sample shopping.  I fell in one with this intricate, very french inspired, tulle and leather flower headband.

Do I need it?  No, but when has that ever influenced anything I have ever done.

Never.

Shop Ban.do

This site is amazing, girlie yet bohemian, mixing everyday wears with high end one of a kind pieces.

I love the luxe boho feel of the rhinestone elastic headband.  I recently bought a wig from the famous Fifi Mahoney’s in the French Quarter of New Orleans (I buy a new one every time we go, I already have next trips picked out) that looks exactly like the silver one above but blonde.  Now I see I desperately I need a rhinestone headband too.

If all things I cherish (chiffon bows, sparkly hair combs, vintage one of a kind, floral head bands) was placed on one website, this would be it.  Fab over-the-top pieces mixed in with everyday things makes for a great place for gifts.

So I can pick up a few Christmas presents for others from here but also add a couple things to my Christmas List.  Win-win.

New Love…Kate Spade

At the height of the Kate Spade nylon purse phenomenon, I think I had 14.  Polka dot, apple green, pink & red stripe, pink velvet, orange velvet (yes, I needed more than one brightly colored velvet purse), backpacks… you name it I had it.

I was in high school and I think this was when my mom started to see the little fashion monster lurking inside me.  If she had only known, she probably would have tried to return me.

Post high school I gave Kate Spade a break for a couple years.  But in the last year or so, it has become one of my absolute favorite places to shop for adorable gifts, accessories (love), stationary, etc.

I fell in love with these little hair barrettes.  Popfizzclink is my personal fave so to celebrate the arrival of these festive little cuties in my mail box my mom and I went out for a glass of prosecco.

Quirky, yet sophisticated.  Which on a better day is what I strive to be.

One day…
