Beefeater Gin Party…Tales of the Cocktail

Every summer in hot month of July, Tales of the Cocktail descends upon New Orleans.  Beverage distributors of all kinds come in from all over the country, to host parties celebrating their brands.

This year, Leaf+Petal had the fortunate opportunity to work with some amazing distributors including El Tesoro Tequila, Ford’s Gin, High West Brewery from Park City and Beefeater Gin.

They were all pretty fabulous, but the Beefeater Party was one of my personal faves.

For one of their events, they hosted a seated dinner at Trinity Restaurant in the French Quarter.  The aesthetic was garden style, utilizing their brand colors as inspiration: ivory, blush, gold and accents of red.

Tables were laid out garlands of eucalyptus, white stock, blush roses, red and white ranunculus and red tulips.

To tie in the gold, we added our antique gold lanterns with additions of gold mercury votive cups.

Now for next year, I need to work towards getting an invite.

I may love flowers, but I love cocktails…

white linen & flowers…

Tonight is White Linen Night in the Warehouse District.

You roam, gallery to gallery, dressed in white linen and sip street cocktails.

Normally I’m a fit & flare dress and Marc Jacobs mouse flats kind of girl, but today I’m feeling more bohemian-ish.

And by bohemian, I mean I bought a linen tee-shirt at the Gap (not very bohemian) and am hoping not to pass out of a heat stroke traversing the streets of New Orleans.

To add to my Gap ensemble (why is everything always 40% off?), I created a little delicate flower crown of blushes and pinks.

And I hate keeping cocktails waiting.

the new year in moderation…

new years goalsI’ve never been one for New Year’s resolutions mainly because I’ve never been to maintain them.  Also, I’ve usually opted for lofty goals which by January 5th have been thrown to the wayside.

I read in a magazine around the holidays, all people need to focus on in the new year is “eat better, exercise more and sleep more.”  I like it.  Simple and attainable.

Last night I slept well.  This morning I went running.  I’m currently drinking a smoothie with kale in it.

But, importantly, all things in moderation because this afternoon my mom comes in town and it will be time for cocktails in the garden district.

Like I said, moderation.

parties parties parties…

IMG_0425Since it’s getting close to the holidays, as I mentioned below I’ve already started Christmas shopping for myself (I need to be put in Christmas jail), I’m hosting my obligatory trunk show.

Jewels as far as the eye can see.  And wine…

flowers & crowns…

flower girl

In between staining cabinets, painting bedrooms and the daily battles that have become my personal war with our contractor, I’ve been working.

Somewhat.

flowergirl crown-white

A bride in New Orleans contacted me to make flower crowns to outfit all her little flower girls for her upcoming wedding at the Marigny Opera House.

Off white flowers on adjustable crowns with white gauze ribbons.

So of course, I made one for me too.  But mine was larger.  And pink…

happy fourth…

chia breakfast

In the spirit of trying to be healthy, I’ve taken to eating chia and fresh fruit for breakfast.  And in the spirit of the fourth, I color coordinated my breakfast.

This time last year I think I already had a cocktail in my hand out on a boat somewhere, so this seems like a step in the right (less fun) direction.

Happy Fourth!
